Mariners defeated Budge Budge Academy 9-0 in a practice match held today in Mohun Bagan ground. Mohun Bagan were leading 5-0 in half time. Lalampuia scored a hattrick, Rakesh Masih scored 2 goals. Dipak, Kartick, Baichung and Lalkamal scored 1 goal each.
Few players like Barreto, Vashan, Habibur, Ishfaq did not play in the match. The first team comprised of Shilton, Dipak, Manju, Karan Atwal, Mohanraj, Lalkamal, Marcos, Masih, Rahul, Baichung, Lalampuia. In 2nd half Kareem made a lot of changes in the team and brought on Tapan, Kartick, Tulunga, Nabin Kumar etc. as substitutes. The goal of Dipak was the best of the lot when he dribbled past three players from midfield and lobbed the ball over goalkeeper into the net. Masih and Lalampuia also scored brilliant goals. Tapan Maity missed 2 easy chances in the match. If Lalampuia gains back his confidence after today’s hattrick, it will pay dividend for Mohun Bagan.
