From my childhood, I used to go the Mohun Bagan ground with my father to watch my team in action. I shared everything, be it joy or sorrow with thousands of compatriots. To me ,that was the ultimate support, when Mohun Bagan scored a goal, and all the fans shouted and danced with joy. But after 1986-90-94 world cups, and other football matches from Europe and South America, I realized, what we do here in the name of support my team, is just a pastime.
It is not the real support that actually drive a team for the ultimate victory. So what is " True Support " ? You can see, in European or Latin American football galleries, full with the people with favorite team's jersey, flag scarves, caps. How many of us really take a maroon and green flag to watch a match? Isn't it shameful for a club like us, that we can't take a flag to support our team? The aggressiveness of support really can do a lot for the team. Just imagine, you are all in maroon and green, shouting for the team, the whole gallery is with you, and shouting, the sound of big drums -an electrifying atmosphere !! Jumbo Prawns, the boat, the flags, and thousands of people wearing maroon and green jerseys are singing the song of the club. Just Imagine the situation, and tell me after this, is there any player who can't win?
I am really sorry to say, that though we have the love for the club better than any Indian club, but we are not utilizing our full support for the club. We should go to see the team winning. Not to see just a football match !! We should feel proud that we are the supporters of Mohun Bagan, the National Club of India !!! The gallery should look like a giant maroon and green pulp ,and the shouts should be sufficient to breakup the sky. Yes, that’s called a support. The age-old tradition of a goody goody Mohun Bagan supporter is actually good for nothing. Why so goody goody image? What we are getting for this? Only bad results. So this is the time to breakup that image, and take the upper hand. It's now time for a FEEL BAD FACTOR. The attitude should be everything for Victory Victory or ....Death !!! And your players should feel you there in the ground. Today, I saw, most of the people are not interested to go to see a football match. Why? Is it for bad results? is it for lack of love for football? No, I think it is the lack of proper attitude. You should feel, that you are in the team. You are a member of the squad. And together you will be defeating you opponent. Every time you are going to see a match, don't forget to take a maroon and green flag. That flag will give you that extra zeal !!!
Now a question rise, where do you get the flag ? Oh dear, so easy; Go to the local cloth merchant, and ask him for a Mohun Bagan flag !! It's cheap and easily available. Dear brother, ultimate victory is not so easy. Every step is full of barricades, danger and sacrifice. If there is no flag available for you, buy the maroon and green clothes, and stitch them together. That will be extra value added flag for you, which you stitched by yourself. For jersey, our club is still behind from other clubs which sells jerseys to the supporters. I hope at least one of our club officials is reading this article, and will be arranging the direct sale of Mohun Bagan jerseys for the fans like us. Many Years ago, there were some cap-sellers who sold maroon and green caps with the club emblem. But now they have disappeared. There is a credit card from ICICI and Mohun Bagan, but I don't know how many of us are actually eligible for that credit card. So jerseys, flags, caps, dot pens with club colour, wrist watch scarf etc are needed. Please officials, arrange these for us. We want these badly. Hope this article will cheer up the next-gen supporters of Mohun Bagan, and we will be getting a full brigade of Cheerful , Joyful , and extremely noisy supporters next season !!!!
