MB 2-0 DSK Shivajians

Mohun Bagan has got 3 vital points against DSK Shivajians here at Pune. Sony Norde scored a goal each for Bagan. Bagan had rested Pritam and had Raju in the first team. Brandon also found his position in the first XI. This helped Yusa play in the centre and helped the team to mobilise from middle third.  Brandon can become the man Coach wanted in the right half.

DSK was reduced to 10 men after Ralte got double booking and got marching order. However Bagan failed to increase the score.

Jermaine Pennant factor

Former Arsenal and Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant would play an important role against Mohun Bagan in AFC CL qualifying round on 27th Jan 2016. Jermaine Pennant have recently joined Tampine Rovers. He played for other English teams like Birmingham and Stoke. Pennant played for Pune City FC in ISL.

Bagan fails to impress

Mohun Bagan fails to impress today. This match will definitely keep the Head Coach into worries as the team goes to play AFC Champions League against Tampine Rovers.  Sony Norde was off colour, Yusa still making supporters nervous and Glen failing to convert opportunities into goals.

The Bagan defense made one mistake today and Ranty Martins , found off guard converts the mistake into a goal. However this could be debates if Ranty was in offside position. Glen did well to find the equalizer for Bagan. Bagan failed to take the advantage of an additional foreigner today. In the return league KEB will definitely have balance and will rather start as a better team than Bagan.

However it will still remain an unsolved mystery why the Indian referee can’t see fouls of Mehtab when it comes to iLeague.

Derby match – is AIFF prepared?

Is AIFF prepared for the big match for 2016 between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal? So far AIFF has taken some decisions that diluted discipline in ileague but benefited East Bengal, that includes not having a marquee player or open registration of the players.

The refereeing in the last few ileague sessions have been questioned many times, and impartiality of refereeing have been questioned particularly in the derby games on last few occasions. Is  AIFF carefully observing the movements of the match officials for this game and if they are being influenced ?

Is AIFF conducting dope tests for the players (mandetorily, no need to just pick a single player, let this be done for all players)

Not much of guidances are been heard from AIFF front that will ensure the upcoming game will be free and fair.

MB 4-2 SFC

Mohun Bagan got past Salgaokar FC by 4-2 in a very competitive game here at Barasat today. In the first minute Yusa was pushed inside the box and the referee ignored. The referee later awarded Bagan in a 50/50 situation when Glenn was merely touched. Glenn converted the penalty into a goal.

But much before that, Yusa scored from a Karanjit mistake in the 9th min of the game.

Luciano scored another goal in the first half to make it 3-0. This was first match fpr the Brazilian defender for Bagan.

A Balwant beauty made it 4-0 in the second half. But Salgaokar reduced the margin twice, first when Bagan defense tries an offside trap that did not work out and later when a shot taken outside the box went past far post.

Bagan had Debjit from beginning of the match and that gave Bagan supporters the much needed confidence before the match against the local club on 23rd Jan. Debjit was brilliant under the bars and there is no reason why he should not find his place in first XI. Bagan coaching staff had been working hard to finalize the defense. They would need more time to spend on Kinshuk.

In the midfield Pranoy actually played well excepting one mostake that helped SFC score the second goal. One can definitely rely upon him for the next match as well.

Azhar operated from right today. Though he committed many mistakes , he took the needed load. He would still need to be worked upon. Giving a backpass when three players are in scoring position does not help.

Yusa got back his favorite left half position, but messed up twice in the final third and wasted chances to score. With a good french defender he would have a tough time unless he plays selflessly. Souvik needs to be more constructive.

Glenn alone wasted 4 opportunities. He need to convert more chances to goals.

Balwant meanwhile was excellent like the first game. Cpach can definitely consider Balwant and Jeje together with Glenn in case U-23 can be withdrawn early in the matches.

Luciano was awarded MoM.

MB 3-1 AFC

Mohun Bagan comfortably won against Aizwal FC in the ileague opener tpday. Glenn (2) and Balwant(1) scored for Bagan while Pritam conceded an own goal.

Bagan’s first match against the minnows was a good kickstart to retain the title, however a lack of genuine attacking midfielder didn’t get unnoticed. Though Shilton saved three goals , he continued to make grave mistakes, that included handling the ball oit of the box. Shilton’s mistakes did not give the supporters the confidence they wanted to have to shout to have him in the first XI.

Regarding Yusa , he needs to improve as well, he needs to understand the supporters are looking for his service in AFC / ACL.

Balwant and Glenn seem to have been working well, and one expects their understanding will be lethal and they will score more in upcoming games.
