MB 4-2 SFC

Mohun Bagan got past Salgaokar FC by 4-2 in a very competitive game here at Barasat today. In the first minute Yusa was pushed inside the box and the referee ignored. The referee later awarded Bagan in a 50/50 situation when Glenn was merely touched. Glenn converted the penalty into a goal.

But much before that, Yusa scored from a Karanjit mistake in the 9th min of the game.

Luciano scored another goal in the first half to make it 3-0. This was first match fpr the Brazilian defender for Bagan.

A Balwant beauty made it 4-0 in the second half. But Salgaokar reduced the margin twice, first when Bagan defense tries an offside trap that did not work out and later when a shot taken outside the box went past far post.

Bagan had Debjit from beginning of the match and that gave Bagan supporters the much needed confidence before the match against the local club on 23rd Jan. Debjit was brilliant under the bars and there is no reason why he should not find his place in first XI. Bagan coaching staff had been working hard to finalize the defense. They would need more time to spend on Kinshuk.

In the midfield Pranoy actually played well excepting one mostake that helped SFC score the second goal. One can definitely rely upon him for the next match as well.

Azhar operated from right today. Though he committed many mistakes , he took the needed load. He would still need to be worked upon. Giving a backpass when three players are in scoring position does not help.

Yusa got back his favorite left half position, but messed up twice in the final third and wasted chances to score. With a good french defender he would have a tough time unless he plays selflessly. Souvik needs to be more constructive.

Glenn alone wasted 4 opportunities. He need to convert more chances to goals.

Balwant meanwhile was excellent like the first game. Cpach can definitely consider Balwant and Jeje together with Glenn in case U-23 can be withdrawn early in the matches.

Luciano was awarded MoM.

MB 3-1 AFC

Mohun Bagan comfortably won against Aizwal FC in the ileague opener tpday. Glenn (2) and Balwant(1) scored for Bagan while Pritam conceded an own goal.

Bagan’s first match against the minnows was a good kickstart to retain the title, however a lack of genuine attacking midfielder didn’t get unnoticed. Though Shilton saved three goals , he continued to make grave mistakes, that included handling the ball oit of the box. Shilton’s mistakes did not give the supporters the confidence they wanted to have to shout to have him in the first XI.

Regarding Yusa , he needs to improve as well, he needs to understand the supporters are looking for his service in AFC / ACL.

Balwant and Glenn seem to have been working well, and one expects their understanding will be lethal and they will score more in upcoming games.

The video of this game should be showed in the football academies for

1. How free kicks are converted

2. How refereeing can be ridiculous

3. How  a technically poor goalie’s inclusion in a squad can lead to humiliation.

KEB got an early lead when Judelin unnecessarily committed a foul and DuDong knew Shilton is weak in (a) positioning himself (b) how weak he is on left

DuDong made no mistake and KEB was up 1-0 in 2nd min. That was followed by series of miss passes by Bagan players and series of wasted opportunities.

DuDong increased the lead in 38th min from a disputed free kick and  a similar shot (2-0).

Referee started favouring  KEB as  he gave a series of free kicks.

Not only that he gave Dudu marching order for  a play acting by Khabra in the second half.

Rafiq increased margin as Shilton was caught wrong foot (3-0)

Safar had a goal line save or else the score board could have been 4-0 in regular time.

The 4th goal came from  corner in 94th min as Rahul header kept Shilton away.

MB 4-1 Police AC

Mohun Bagan secured three points as they thrashed Police AC by 4-1. However Bagan conceded an early goal as Shilton was in a wrong position during a free kick and hence was not at all in a position to save the shot. It was Shilton’ s wrong positioning that helped Army score against Bagan in an earlier match.

However all other players gave their best, and built in the required confidence against the table topper East Bengal, the derby match being scheduled on 6th September 2015.

Lalkamal got the equaluser from an individual brilliance, and Lewis had a world class goal, unlike a goal that a scorer would not be able to repeat in his lifetime.

Dudu scored the third and Lewis nailed in by scoring a fourth.

Lewis was selected as MOM

MB 3-1 TA, might lose points

Mohun Bagan might lose 3 points and this can go to TA as there are complaints of Bagan not having any U-23 player in last 5 mins of the game.

Dudu scored two goals and a Lal Kamal shot got deflected into a goal to ensure Bagan.win 3-1 against Tollygaunje Agragami.Adeleja reduced the margin from the infamous Shilton outing in 69th minute.

Bagan got earky lead in.3rd min when Dudu got an Azhar though and converted it to a goal. He scored his second in 43rd min from a pass from Lewis.

However, with Shilton under the post and fragile Bagan.defence, Sanjay Sen will have tough time to fix the defects before upcoming East Bengal match in less than 2 weeks.

Bagan out of CFL championship

Mohun Bagan’s 0-1 loss against Army XI ensured that Bagan is no more the title contender of CFL 2015/16. In fact one should congratulate Bagan’s arch rivals for winning the league for consecutive 6th time well in advance.

It was matter of time for the officials’ unprofessional attitude to be caught, and it happened at the middle of the league. One can very well imagine with Shilton Pal as goalie, Sanjay Balmuchu and Pratik as defenders and Pankaj , Asif , Bhargavin midfield, how much serious or rather farsighted the officials were during recruitment.  However one will not be surprised if the officials start the blame game and raise fingers towards the coach.

Supporters, be prepared for another fruitless season.

MB 3-0 Referee

The referee was perhaps having a secret agenda, like that of the SAI match to stop Bagan from scoring as he denied two clean penalties today. One can recall two clean goals were rejected by the referee Bakshi against SAI.

However a brace from Yusa and a brilliant header from Dudu left the referee in a soup as he had to give in.

Dudu earns 3

Dudu’ s inclusion in the Bagan team started giving returns from the first game. Dudu not only scored 3 vital goals and assured 3 important points for Bagan, he led the team very well from front. One is sure that players like Ram Malik or Pankaj Moula will be able to learn movements off the ball from Dudu. Their failures today ended in only 5 goals for Bagan.

However central defence was worst today that led to conceding two goals, and a goal line save.

Yusa scored two goals as the scoreline showed 5-2.
