In a shameful event Mohun Bagan failed to field a team and hence a walkover was given to George Telegraph on 29th August 2021.
It was a shameful event as the team is expected to play more than just ISL in domestic football. Had the bio-bubble been an issue a formal statement should have been given and support would have been extended to IFA , helping them to have bio-bubble, particularly when some other CFL Teams participated in Football where Team India was involved.
A junior team would have been formed who could have represented Mohun Bagan if the senior team was protected due to pandamic.
Such extremely unsportsman behaviour from the Management raised eyebrows whether the purpose was to avoid a section of supporters who are campaining a #REMOVEATK campaign to disassociate the records of now-defunct Sports franchise ATK with Mohun Bagan as the lions’ share of the ownership of current Mohun Bagan team is with the owners of the now-unregistered ATK.
