Satish Kumar Jr. is a new recruit from HAL. The boy has a lot of promise and comes from the land of Arumanaigam, Ulaganathan.

Satish Kumar was born into a family of limited means in Gouthampuram, a nursery of Bangalore football. His father, Janardhan, an HAL ex-player died on a heart attack when Satish wasn’t even born. His mother struggled a lot to raise the family of 2 brothers and a sister. Some of his cousins, who are staying at the same locality were footballers and encourage him play. Also, his mother always encouraged his game. His elder brother, Karthigayen too plays for HAL.

How did he join Mohun Bagan – Joy Dada (no no Calcutta downot have a direct Volvo to Begaluru, its our very own Joy Kandu) came during I-League 2nd division final round at Bangalore. He met me after the match, called me in his hotel, and offered me to play for Bagan. Around 10 days back I signed on a formal aggrement.

On his chance of getting in the first 11 – I’ll give my best performace in the practice sessions, impress the coach, and hopefully he’ll give me a chance to perform. I am comfortable playing in the right and left half positions. In the final round I-League 2nd division matches, I played as a striker and scored many goals.
I am seeking help from Arumanaigam, Ulaganathan, R C Prakash about playing in Kolkata. They are like my gurdian and providing valuable tips. It is not only about playing a nice game, scoring also matters.

On Coach Stanley who also hails from Bangalore – I do not know him personally, he coached MEG (Madras Engineering Group), a super division team from Bangalore for several years. Since is out of Bangalore for few seasons, it is difficult for him to keep tab on the local football scene. I look forward to play under his guidance.

Past teams
– Southern Blues 05/06
– LRDE  06/07 to 07/08
– HAL 08/09 to 09/10

On his former team – learned several things, coach and senior players including Xavier Vijay Kumar guided me every time. There’s nothing wrong about HAL, but one needs to move on and take challenges in life. Mohun Bagan is a big institution, I am glad to be a part of it.
