The Centenary  – 1980 to 1989

In 1980, Club won Federation Cup (Joint) with East Bengal. Later this year Mohun Bagan won the Durand Cup at Delhi.Kolkata Football League has been abandoned this year due to the tragic incident on 16th August at Eden Gardens during a Mohun Bagan – East Bengal. 16 football lovers died at that incident. Later on that day has been named as “Football Lover’s Day”, and each year, that day is celebrated through a blood donation camp and some other functions.

In 1981,Club shows good performance as Mohun Bagan won IFA Shield (Joint), Federation Cup, Nagji, and Rovers Cup.

In 1982, Club won IFA Shield, Durand Cup (Joint), Federation Cup and Gorkha Brigade Gold Cup.

In 1983, Club won First Division League.

In 1984, Club won First Division League, Durand Cup, Bordului Trophy, and Governor’s Gold Cup (Sikkim). This year a statue was established in honour of Gostho Pal in the Gostho Pal Sarani. Later Indian Government issued stamp and first day cover in honour of Gostho Pal. In the same year, the Government of India honoured Chuni Goswami with ‘Padmashri’ title.

In 1985, Club won Duarand Cup, Governor’s Gold Cup (Sikkim) and Rovers Cup.

In 1986, Club won First Division League, Durand Cup, Federation Cup and Governor’s Gold Cup (Sikkim).

In 1987, Club won IFA Shield and Federation Cup.
