Mohun Bagan 2-1 MSC

Mohun Bagan pip Mohammedan Sporting 2-1 in the 34th Federation Cup group league match today here at Siliguri. Both Bagan and Mohammedan were ousted from the Federation Cup before the game. Hence this game was more of a practice session – as the two teams would play each other in the final of Airlines Gold Cup – expected on 1st October.

Bagan started the game in a 5-3-1-1 combination. Bagan was clearly missing a "leader" in the attacking third. However, Bagan got few chances, including a spot kick in the 16th minute. Jewel Raja failed to convert that into a goal as his shot hit the side bar.

In the second half however, Jewel’s two final passes found Sabeeth and Manish Maithani and both of them converted these opportunities to goals.

Later MSC reduced the margin when Sunday scored from a Bagan defense faux pas.

In the meantime the club officials have announced that they are keeping faith upon Santosh Kashyap for now.
