Federation Cup – 2011-12

The AIFF has announced the Groups of the Federation Cup this year. Mohun Bagan is placed in Group A along with Churchill Brothers, Shillong Lajong FC and Group B Qualifier that includes Southern Samity, United Sikkim Football Club, Royal Wahingdoh and ONGC.

Seven teams will take part in the preliminary phase of the Federation Cup which will kick-off in Kolkata from September 8, 2011. The teams have been divided into two groups and the top team from each group will qualify for Final phase of the competition. Qualifier of Group B will fill into Group A of final round while Qualifier of Group A will be placed in Group C of final round.

The Final Phase of the Competition will simultaneously be played in Pune (Group A &B ) and Kolkata (Group C & D) from September 17, 2011. The Final match will be played in Kolkata on September 30, 2011.

Mohun Bagan will be placed in Group A, which means mohun Bagan will have to play in Pune.

Group A – Mohun Bagan, Churchill Brothers, Shillong Lajong, Qualifier Group B

Group B-  Pailan Arrows, Salgaokar, Mumbai FC and HAL

Group C-  Kingfisher East Bengal, Dempo, Pune FC, Qualifier Group A

Group D – Prayag United,  Sporting Clube de Goa, Air India, Chirag

Qualifiers –

Group A: Mohammedan Sporting, Vasco SC, Ar-Hima.
Group B: Southern Samity, United Sikkim Football Club, Royal Wahingdoh, ONGC.

Prize Money – Rs. 25Lacs for Winner and Rs. 15 Lacs for Runners Up.

Happy birthday Mohun Bagan

Happy birthday Mohun Bagan. In 1889, on this very day Mohun Bagan was formed. At that time the club’s name was Mohun Bagan Sporting Club.

Anupam released

Mohun Bagan officials have decided to release Anupam Sarkar. Anupam had an agreement with Chirag United. But since Chirag and United Sports were separated, the agreement seemed to stand invalid. However, officials from United Sports approached Mohun Bagan and asked for releasing Anupam. Mohun Bagan responded to the same and released Anupam. A United official have appreciated the gesture from Mohun Bagan and thanked the officials for this development.
