Poor show by Bagan

Mohun Bagan faced a shocking defeat against Techno Aryan in their second match of Sahara CFL. Stanly, the only goal scorer of the match brought a sweet victory for his team and almost full strength Bagan team lost to them. It may not be decisive but later we have to find the way to get out of this type of situation, which is not expected for the team like Mohun Bagan AC. Only Surkumar Singh and Rakesh Masih to join this squad otherwise this team will play Fed Cup or I League with almost same squad. This should be the deep concern for Coach Stanly Rozario.

Before the match started there was light drizzle but the atmophere was very much pleasant at ground and it was almost full house.

Bagan started with same eleven, which has played in the last match against  Tollygunj. But in the 8th minute of the match Bagan defence conceived a goal by the defensive collapse. An Aryan player Mohon Sarkar dribbled two Bagan defender and pushed the ball to Stanly, Stanly made no mistake to put the ball into the net by his right footer. Sangram had nothing to do.

From then Bagan played a mind-numbing football, which couldn’t help them to get back into the match. Meaninless football of Mariners brought so much frustration to the supporters of the stand. It was really worthless. Barreto and Muritlala both were trying heavily to do better for their team but they are not supported by the others. Muritala has also not played well today, he has to improve his game for which club officials brought him. Average game cannot be the level to play for Mohun Bagan.

In the 37th minute Barreto missed a sitter. In the the 40th minute Bagan got a free-kick and Barreto kicked the ball straight to the Aryan wall, no damage done to Aryan. At the end 1st half Bagan was trailing by 0-1.

At the starting of the second half everybody expected some changes but to utter surprise there was no change. And the same meaningless football was going on. In the 55th minute at last coach Stanly has given the order to change. Sk. Azim and Edeh Chidi was bought in the place Diamondstar and Ashim Biswas. This Ashim Biswas played as a forward but it is really frustrating that he has not initiated or finished any fruitful attack. In the last match report we mentioned about him that he has to improve his game, and we are remained stick into the same point. He has to improve more and more and more. Literally all 55minutes he tried to follow the ball but failed. Another is Okwy Diamondstar. He has to improve a lot otherwse it will be catastrophic for Bagan for all the season.

Then all three foreigners had started from the front. Barreto, Chiddi, Muritala Ali geared up the tempo of attack but midfield was so dull that they have not got ample support.  One must also mention Aryan central defender Sourav Chakraborty for his gritty show. The 18-year-old nullified the trio of Barreto, Chidi and Murithala Ali.

Ishfaq Ahmed, the captain was the most failure player of the match. His distrubution, his ball control was not at the level best, which he has to do. Captain should indicate the dimension of the team. But Ishfaq himself was absolutely super flop today. There was immense pressure from gallery this time to bring Snehasis in the place of Ishfaq. At last in the 80th minute this change happened. But it was too late to survive. Yet a corner kick of Snehasis hit the cross bar and the ball went to unmarked to Muritala Ali, but failed to push the ball inside the net. This was the best chance for Bagan in the entire match. After that in the added time Bagan made a lot of attack but luck was not with them today. It may be a bad day in office. Accident happened sometimes but not daily. We hope Mohun Bagan will come back heavily in the upcoming matches.

Mariners will play their next match against Kalighat MS on Wednesday 8th September, 2010 at their own ground.

Happy Birthday Jose !!

3rd September, 1976, Port Algere, Brazil. There born a sweet baby named Jose Ramirez Barreto. But who knew then that a Brazilian will become the legend of National Club of India? Nobody knows except God, I bet. Jose Ramirez Barreto, the name is so very synonymous with the emotion of the millions of fans of Mohun Bagan AC. He has become a symbolic character of Mohun Bagan breaking all the geographical boundaries. Mohunbaganclub.com wishes Jose Barreto a long, happy and prosperous life.

In the year 1999,  Barreto comes to India to play for Mohun Bagan. The first season, Barreto was seen playing with Uzbek player Igor Skivrin. He brought the well-coveted National League for the National Club. From then, it has started, and continuing till date – sailing the boat of Mohun Bagan on his own shoulder.

In the last match against Tollygunj Agragami, when the situation of the team was not very good, there came his goal from a 25 yards long range. This is Barreto! Whenever his team fall in short of target, there is only him to show his team ray of hope, shinning of joy, glory of victory.

Jose Barreto is not only a successfull player, he is a good human being as well by his character, his moral and his family life.

As a Mohun Bagan supporter we salute this Brazilian, the great Mohun Bagani.

Happy Birthday, many many returns of the day!
