Will Okwy Diamond star for Bagan?

Are we all set to see the PAO in trial Okwy Diamondstar donning Green and Maroon colors? Now that’s a million rupee question, and all seems to be going well in that direction.

It is not at all news that he has marked his impression in the 4-days of stint in the ongoing pre-season camp at Siliguri. Neither is it news that the team is extremely pleased with his ball possession, ball clearance, positional sense, and man marking capabilities.

Then what is the news?

Well the news, which came into the light of the club management recently, is that the African born Aussie is contracted to his current club, Knights Army, Perth till September, and that his club might delay the clearance.

However, what is heartening is that Diamondstar himself has shown keenness to play for Mohun Bagan and he is confident of getting clearance from the Perth-based club. He along with his agent and the Mohun Bagan club officials are working out on the modalities.

Club is interested for an annual contract, however, coach Stanley Rosario would give his final verdict on Friday, August 20.

Striker Chidi and Diamondstar are childhood friends. Are we set to see a re-union of sorts? Are we set for see Diamondstar marshalling Bagan’s defense?

Only time will tell. Whatever may be the case, let’s all hope for the best for Mohun Bagan!

Stanley stands for four foreigners in the First-XI

Mohun Bagan coach Stanley Rozario stands for four foreign players to play together in the first-XI. He feels annoyed by the decision of AIFF, as there are four foreigners already in his team including a player of Asian quota. Though Okwy Diamondstar is now under trial, still his performance in the first couple of days practice bring some relief for Rozario. But the sudden decision of All India Football Federation made a mess of his plans. Therefore, he requested to club officials to take initiative regarding this matter and MB officials send a letter to AIFF to resolve the issue.

Meanwhile, there was practice for single session on Wednesday at Siliguri for Mariners. It was a rainy day and at after-noon session team came to practice and played a practice match after some physical conditioning. The practice match was tied 2-2. Okwy Diamondstar scored a goal from corner by a header.
