New PAO in Trial from Hong-Kong National Team

Gerard Ambassa Guy, the Cameroonian-born Hong Kong footballer arrived Kolkata for trial in Mohun Bagan as player of Asian origin. He was in the ground today morning and did light practice under Stanley. In the after-noon he did some physical training and stretching as well. He has played last match on May 25th, 2010, that is why coach needs to see his fitness first. Stanley also added that he doesn’t want to say any thing before see him in practice in next few days.







This 6ft.1in. footballer was the member of Cameroon under-23 team from 1995 to 2000. And he played for Hong-Kong national football team also and scored 6 goals in 21 matches. Gerard was born on 21st September, 1978 and his last played club was South China Club, Hong Kong. He has also played for Happy Valley, Yee Hope, Instant-Dict and Rangers (HKG) in the past.

Now this 31 years player, whose nickname is JJ, needs to prove himself eligible for Mohun Bagan. However, time will tell that. Mean while, officials is not going to sign any agreement with him before the meeting of AIFF which is going to be held on the first week of August. Because in that meeting there will be decided how many players of foreigners quota as well as Asian will be allowed to play for a club in this season.

7th Annual Day celebrated at Academy

The Endeavour, which was started by the National Club of India, Mohunbagan AC and the largest integrated iron and steel producer of India, Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL), the Mohunbagan SAIL Football Academy(MBSFA) celebrated their 7th anniversary on Tuesday, July 20, 2010.

 The colorful celebration was kicked-off by the flag hoisting ceremony by Mr. Tapan Roy, In-charge, MBSFA. To encourage Football among the local schools, the MBSFA organized a two-day long inter school football tournament. This tournament was divided in three groups, grade II, III & IV. Eight different English Medium Schools from Durgapur and its surroundings have taken part in this tournament.

Former Mohunbagan and India captain I. M. Vijayan, Former Mohunbagan player and coach Jahar Das, senior club officials and their families were present on this occasion.

MBSFA felicitated Mr. I. M. Vijayan and Mr. Jahar Das for their valuable contribution towards Indian Football.

Mr. Vijayan and Mr. Jahar Das both encouraged the participants and the academy wards in their respective speeches.

The programme ended successfully with Annual Day Cake Cutting Ceremony. During this two days programme the entire academy premises have been decorated by Green & Maroon lights.

Mariners residential camp may be after Santosh Trophy

Under new coach Stanley Rozario practice Mohun Bagan senior team started their practice from 16th July. Due to Santosh Trophy and National Camp there are only 13 players are participated now in the practice. Therefore, residiantial camp which is supposed to be held at Guwahati from 4th of the month of August may be postponed for a week or more. Also Captain Isfaq Ahmed still not reached to Kolkata due to present unrest situation in Kashmir. The foreigners as well have not arrived. Barreto and Muritala Ali may come at Kolkata on 1st and 2nd of the month August, while Edeh Chiddi will not come before 10th of August.
