Odafa suspended – and justice denied

The iLeague Disciplinary Committee has penalised Mohun Bagan captain Odafa Okolie by Rs. 1,50,000 and one additional match ban. Surprisingly the iLeague committee failed to take any action against the referee whose behaviour raised eye brows and whose intention on the match day maligned Indian football. AIFF failed to act against the misbehaviours of the 2 opponent players who were found clapping and raised the tension in the gallery. AIFF failed to act against the Home team for all the misdeeds in spite of the same being reported by the Match Commissioner.

The Press Release –

All India Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee comprising of Mr. NA Khan (Chairman), Mr. Rakesh Bakshi, Mr. Uma Prasad Mukherjee, Mr. Premashis Chowdhury and Mr. DS Sivaswamy, met at the Football House on Monday (January 21, 2013).

The Committee reviewed all the documents, the video of the I-League match between KEB and MMB (played on December 9, 2012) and interrogated Mr. Odafa Okolie who was present in the hearing.

After taking into consideration an unconditional apology from Mr. Okolie, the Committee imposed an additional one-match ban (in I-League 2012/13) and also imposed a fine of Rs. 1,50,000 on the Mohun Bagan player.

The Committee has directed that Mr. Odafa be allowed to play only after paying the necessary fine.

Salgaocar-2: Bagan-0

Mohun Bagan lost to Salgaocar by 2-0.Bagan has got only 16 matches to save their relegation. But now they have only 15 matches on their hand with no points in the bag so far. Bagan did not play well in the match while, their key players like Tolgey and Nabi has been booked. If Bagan has to stay in the first division of the I League then Karim has to implement some extra to his team. Any predictable strategy can hardly work for his team. Bagan will meet United Sikkim FC on Thursday, 24th January at Kolkata.

Starting from 0

Mohun Bagan will resume their I League from tomorrow at Goa. They will meet David booth’s Salgaocar in an away encounter. This match cannot be seen as other I League matches. In fact, all the football lovers of India will look after the game becausr after revoking the ban imposed by AIFF, Bagan will play for the first time. However, Mariners main hope Odafa Okolie will not play this match due to suspension of red card shown in the last match against the local outfit East Bengal. But aussie star Tolgey Ozbie is ready to fire after getting fit.

Bagan coach Kareem Bencharifa did not get many match to show his credibility. After 41 days of  total rest Bagan player must be fit better than ever. They must not forget that they have to start from 0, which they earned in previous matches i.e. 12 points is converted to 0 as punishment. So Bagan’s main concern would be three points and nothing else because the players and officials have no other choice so far to avoid the relegation.

Meanwhile Odafa is asked to appear before AIFF disciplinary committee on Monday.
