Practice Sessions (1st Part) – REAL MADRID

mohunbaganclub.com tries to bring in a report on Practice sessions of various clubs of the world. These sessions perhaps would feed in some necessary input to the coach Santosh Kashyap, the players and the support staff – as the team Mohun Bagan is getting for iLeague now. Today – we bring in some input on Jose Mourinho’s team.

Real Madrid go for the following training session –

15 mins – The players jog around the field and then circle up near the centre circle. A player usually talks about the team’s SWOT while others do some free hand exercise

25 mins – Various groups of 5 players each (by position) are formed, and thHigh Step conesey go for shooting. This include high step cones ( as the image on the right ) , weave through flags, receive a pass from a team mate , passing it back, then high step once again, receive a back pass and shoot on goal.

This is followed by small-sided games in 10 ft  x 10 ft boxes.

Please note that the game Bagan lost against Air India in Federation Cup group match – Air India defended with 10-men once they were up 1-0. Bagan need to learn how to get past the opponents when they block the goal post with 10 men.

Goalkeepers would be engaged in stopping these target practices – but this does not include the first goalie of the team. The starters practice more with the goalkeeping coaches.

This is followed by 4 mins of water break.

15 mins – The players group  into a 40 ft  x 20 ft rectangular area – 6 attacking players play against 10 defenders who try to stop them – and these 6 attackers try to stick together during the attack.  Mostly one-touch football.

This is followed by 4 mins of water break.

10 mins – Once again the practice resume with players flocking into another rectangle and Mourinho in the middle correcting the players their mistakes. This time 10 players would attack against 6 to defend. The goalies will serve the balls to attackers.

This is followed by 4 mins of water break.

10 mins – Players form 2 groups of 10 players each – one goalie, four defenders and five attackers – and play with each other

After this session – the players once again flock together in the centre circle, go for some freehand exercise and then they leave the ground.

0-2 – Fans querying for new coach’s name

Mohun Bagan lost to Air India 0-2. Fans are enquirying about the new coach’s name. Mohunbaganclub.com will update the fans once they hear from the officials about the next press meeting. But this won’t happen before the Mohammedan Sporting match

Mohun Bagan 2-1 MSC

Mohun Bagan pip Mohammedan Sporting 2-1 in the 34th Federation Cup group league match today here at Siliguri. Both Bagan and Mohammedan were ousted from the Federation Cup before the game. Hence this game was more of a practice session – as the two teams would play each other in the final of Airlines Gold Cup – expected on 1st October.

Bagan started the game in a 5-3-1-1 combination. Bagan was clearly missing a "leader" in the attacking third. However, Bagan got few chances, including a spot kick in the 16th minute. Jewel Raja failed to convert that into a goal as his shot hit the side bar.

In the second half however, Jewel’s two final passes found Sabeeth and Manish Maithani and both of them converted these opportunities to goals.

Later MSC reduced the margin when Sunday scored from a Bagan defense faux pas.

In the meantime the club officials have announced that they are keeping faith upon Santosh Kashyap for now.
